A new, lite approach to functional healthcare

We believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

We blend traditional and functional medicine, to help you get started with functional medicine.

A blended approach to functional health support

Society is experiencing a dramatic rise in the amount of people suffering from complex, chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, ADHD, autism and mental illness. Healing the patient has become replaced with treating the patient. This change in terminology implies that the patient’s problems are permanent, but the symptoms may be controlled with a life-time of ever increasing medication.

We believe in a better way. Our blended approach combines traditional medical practices, with investigate medicine to help address the root cause of the problems, rather than perpetually trimming the leaves of the symptoms.

How do we do it?

Imagine two people who live in the same house, share the same room, and play in the same spaces. One gets sick but the other doesn’t. How does this make sense? A lot of health professionals will immediately look for solutions and answers. They may even ask questions such as, “What caused person A to get sick?” After all, we tend to react to illness only after it happens and look for a way to treat it once it occurs.

But what about if instead of evaluating the sick person, we considered another approach? Ask instead, “What does the healthy person have that the sick person doesn’t?” This introduces a whole new perspective on how we view our health and how we can stay healthy.

Simply put, our approach to functional medicine focuses on exploring what the root causes of your chronic illness could be, and looking at your health with your whole life in mind. We look at your whole health history to find the source of what’s causing your symptoms and what might have triggered your condition in the first place.

Our personalised and integrative approach to your healthcare involves understanding the prevention, management and root causes of all complex chronic disease.

Because we are qualified, regulated doctors and clinicians, we do not reject conventional medicine, instead we use conventional medicine as a foundation on which to add new dimensions in the evaluation, management and prevention of chronic disease.

Our five principles

Our ultimate goal is to heal disease and promote a healthy life. A healthy life is not defined as simply an absence of disease, but rather a positive vitality filled with energy, joy, gratitude and balance. To do this we recognise five key factors:

  • Everyone is different, both genetically and biochemically. With this in mind, we take a personalised approach, treating YOU and not the disease. Instead of tackling the disease directly, we'll always try and find ways for the body’s normal healing mechanisms to resolve the problem.
  • As a team we are science-based. There is a complex network of interconnected relationships within our body, not unlike the many webs that connect us in other ways. By understanding those relationships, we can all have a deeper comprehension of the body.
  • The human body has the capacity of self-regulation. Your body has millions of systems that are interconnected with one another in a delicate balance. Sometimes certain conditions can knock your body off balance.
  • Your body can often heal itself and can prevent nearly all of the diseases of aging.
  • Health is a state of immense vitality, not just the absence of a disease or an ailment.

Our approach

Our approach is to encourage our members to take an active role in their own health. By educating you about your own body and its processes, you get a greater chance of being treated successfully and living a healthier life.

We've designed a membership model to encourage you to come back and speak to us more than just when you get sick.

Our mission is to make this kind of healthcare so affordable that you can come and work with our clinicians on a more regular basis (like a health counseller) to help create a happier, healthier environment in order to try and prevent you getting sick, rather than just treat you when you are unwell.

Many patients turn to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). The use of selected, evidence based CAM therapies for the prevention and treatment of migraine, carpal tunnel syndrome, and dementia are available. Find out more.

Inflammation

Inflammation

Inflammation is not inherently “bad”. When regulated and under control, it’s an essential component of immune system function, and necessary for fighting pathogens and healing from injuries. Find out more.

Chronic Fatigue

Chronic Fatigue

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a long-term illness characterised by extreme tiredness. CFS is also known as ME, which stands for myalgic encephalomyelitis. CFS/ME can affect anyone of any age but it’s more common in women, and tends to develop between 20 and 40 years of age. Find out more.

Cardiometabolic conditions

A functional medicine approach can help control glycemic indices, and it may also help reduce many related health issues. In particular, using dietary change as a first-line treatment has shown success in reversing diabetes. Find out more.
