PHP Laravel Developer

Vala are looking for a PHP Laravel Developer to join our team and help shape the future functionality of the Vala platform.

The PHP Developer will join Vala Health to take over day-to-day management of the product platform. You will work closely with the product manager and external development team using Scrum and Agile methodologies to craft high-impact web and mobile applications using the existing product engine.

You will also be responsible for fixing any bugs or performance issues that get reported throughout the day-to-day running of the company. We value true passion and enthusiasm for software and its various applications over experience or technical ability and we are committed to providing training and development to help you learn on the job.

The right person for this role will be looking to join an environment that they can stamp their mark on, and work with high profile companies on exciting new projects and products.

0.6-3 years in PHP, 2+ years in Laravel Framework

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze requirements.
  • Follow coding standards.
  • Develop test driven code.
  • Integrate with 3rd party APIs.
  • Document Code and REST APIs.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications.

How does the application process work?

  • Once you’ve registered your interest in working for Vala and uploaded the necessary documentation, we'll contact you to discuss the next steps. If we have a suitable vacancy on the platform that matches your availability then you could be on the platform in a matter of weeks.
  • You will need to provide us with all the appropriate documentation in order to work on the Vala platform; Entry on the GMC register, Evidence of entry on the NHS performers list, Up-to-date CV, Photo ID (Passport/Driving Licence), Resident / Work Permit (if applicable), Current DBS (CRB) check. This will need to be posted to our head office, after which we will return to yourself. Latest Appraisal and Revalidation documents (for recently qualified GPs your CCT is fine), Contact details of 2 clinical references, Adult Safeguarding training Certificate Level 3 (within the last 3 years), Child Safeguarding training Certificate Level 3 (within the last 3 years), Evidence of training on the Mental Capacity Act (within the last 3 years), Evidence of training on Information Governance or the Data Protection Act (within the last year), Medical Indemnity Certificate with GP online/telehealth cover (this can be submitted after completion of training)
  • You will need to provide your own hardware; PC/Laptop with webcam and microphone. Minimum of Windows* 10, i3 processor and 4GB Ram. Macs are fine to use, but need to have 4GB RAM. We would advise against using a Chromebook or Macbook air.

What does the onboarding process look like?

  • In order to become a Vala GP, you will be required to undertake remote training and induction on to the Vala platform. This takes up to 3 hours and will be led by our clinical leads. We’ll also help answer questions you may have around some of the clinical aspects of working on the platform, such as prescribing or examination.
  • After your training you will also be booked in for an introductory telephone call with our CEO. This is an opportunity for you to find out a little bit more about the company vision and for them to find out more about you.

Do I need to worry about indemnity?

  • Indemnity will not be provided, you will need to cover yourself.
  • The cost of indemnity will depend on the number of sessions you wish to work, so please contact your medical indemnity provider for a quote. However, as we are providing NHS appointments, work on our platform is covered by the state-backed indemnity scheme.

What hours can I work?

  • There are a variety of session blocks to choose from to suit your schedule. We would advise the following timeslots: 9am - 5pm / 6pm - 8pm / Varying hours on weekends.
  • All our consulations take up to 30mins, and you will need to fill out the patient notes when the session has finished. We encourage all our clinicians to take at least 8 sessions a day.
  • To work Vala sessions you need to be based in England at the time of consulting.
